We Are Changing the Way the World Negotiates and Solves Differences

Negotiating as a leader

Former President of Ecuador, Dr. Jamil Mahuad, began the session with a talk regarding the series of negotiations that had led to a peaceful agreement which ended the 400-year-long border dispute between Peru and Ecuador.

He explained why the border tension had existed for decades and spoke about how the people in each country perceived the piece of land in concern.

Furthermore, he enunciated how he himself and then-president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, put an end to the dispute through a series of meetings and strategic conversations. In conjunction with sharing the detail underlying this successful negotiation, Dr. Mahuad discussed the concepts of rational negotiation, emotional negotiation, and the two goals in negotiation and how these notions were applied in the real world.

The participants learned a valuable lessen from this exemplary case of successful negotiation delivered in this training session.

At the end of His lecture was ended with a standing ovation from a very happy and emotional participants thanking Dr. Mahuad for a brilliant lecture.
